Our client is a multi-billion global special situations fund with long-term locked up capital and a highly regarded senior team of investors with decades of experience in special situations credit and equity. They invest in creative, mainly private markets special situations that generate equity-like returns. They have a flexible approach across the capital structure and will take on troubled credits, joint ventures, PIPEs, and other investments.
The Principal needs a track record of sourcing interesting transactions and a network of funds, family offices, and advisors. The Principal will engage with deal execution and must have current skills. The Principal will also participate in managing a team of strong junior investing staffers. Candidates should have 8-12 years of total experience focused on more complex, structured, or equity-like investments. Candidates should have early training in a well-respected investment banking (preferably focused on Restructuring or Leveraged Finance) or buyside analyst program with additional experience in a buyside special situations/hybrid value fund. We cannot consider long/short or growth equity backgrounds. The role requires hustle and creativity as well as rigorous fundamental underwriting skills. Strong performers will have significant upside trajectory. Candidates should have a track record of professional success including a strong academic background from a major college or university.
